One of the beneficiaries of the SurgicalImagineering.com website is the Henry Ford Health System, and many of the offerings on this website were tested and tempered by years of use in their real-world environments.
A portion of the proceeds from all sales on this site go to support the training efforts of the Henry Ford Hospital Center for Simulation Education and Research.
The Center offers procedural simulation technologies using computerized mannequins and other mechanical devices. It also is a venue for advancing education and assessing the competencies of residents, physicians and other heath care workers in the areas of inter-professional team communications, patient safety and doctor-patient communication skills. Reconfigurable suites replicate the emergency department, operating room, intensive care unit, labor and delivery suite, and other hospital environments. Mannequins allow staff to realistically challenge their skills, perfect new care protocols and practice code situations.
